I’m very sad for this news. :( Also, modern Christians don’t know the bloodshed that has happened throughout history because of ‘evangelization’. Most indigenous people had to be subjugated to even convert. And there was death all around. Yeah sure, jesus might have been peaceful but throughout history a good portion of his followers have not been. And since Christians don’t address this part of the story…

If I was a teacher there I would add contact details for all relevant officials and explicitly make a lesson plan talking about the first amendment, why it's important, and how this violates that rule. Then as a class we'd all write to the officials.

I always find it hilarious how the Abrahamic faiths just disregard any human history before their messiahs. Like seriously? Look if you just decide to follow the three Abrahamic religions You can cancel all sporting events and any other school events including school itself on Friday Saturday and Sunday . When I was a student I would’ve been happy with a four day school week honoring Islamic Sabbath on Friday. And if I really wanted to keep it strictly that would mean no yardwork, dishes, cleaning or anything else

A church that is supposed to show compassion, caring and inclusion (core values for religious adherents). Time to revoke their tax exemptions, and demand taxes on all donations since that "church" was founded.

I want to thank you for this, however, as a teacher in Louisiana, I want to point something out. This is also not about the 10 Commandments or influencing students to be better citizens because teaching Social Studies, class rules, procedures, how communities are formed, and how we can be good citizens at the elementary level is where students learn that. What has not been mentioned is what the penalty for non-compliance is and who it does and does not pertain to. The penalty is that public schools ONLY will lose government funds (it doesn't say how much, only that they will) and that CHARTER SCHOOLS are exempt from both the law and the penalty for non-compliance. This is about the justification at the state level of removing much-needed funds for education, which is an evil all its own. I am a Christian who hopes the ACLU takes these people to task and strikes down this law completely for the sake of our children who deserve to be educated. Also, thank goodness someone asked the question concerning how we are going to explain adultery to young students in kindergarten (I teach 3rd - 5th graders and I'm not sure what I am going to say about that). Also thank you for the "hang it turned facing the wall" description. I was on the phone with a friend listening to this with him and we had just said that about 5 minutes before it came up on your feed. Our Congress in Baton Rouge has lost their ever-loving minds. Just as a little side note, I was thinking of making a "How Did We Get Here" wall at the back of my room and putting part of Hammurabi's Law, The Magna Carta, and other examples throughout history across the wall and increase it as we go on through the year and discuss different civilizations.

To preface my comment, I stopped watching at 5mins in because the speaker was missing an important detail, & I was getting annoyed. This couple, along with his parents, ran an orphanage. They had dozens of children in their care that would be on the streets fending for themselves against the gangs, if this family had not been caring for them and protecting them. They knew the violence & unrest was bad, but they refused to abandon the children in their care. The gangs had usually left them out of them out of the violence because they were caring for many children. This was a different gang that moved into the area. The couple wasn't ignorant or stupid, they were heroes protecting children who had NO ONE. They gave their lives for those babies.

My sympathies to people from Lousiana, at least some of whom I imagine are now realizing that at least one of their state reps is incapable of answering simple questions.

There is room for so many other commandments: thou shall not r@pe or sexually assault, thou shall not be rabidly greedy, thou shall not abuse children, thou shall not cast out strangers into dangerous situations, thou shall feed the hungry, thou shall not accept slavery, thou shall be cool to one another.

Good for Louisiana. They are perfectly entitled to do this under law. Nobody cares if atheist anti-Christian bigots are butt hurt.
